The carriage shed contains 36 passenger vehicles.
A typical train consists of 12 carriages loaded with 72 passengers. Also tucked away in the carriage shed is a set of enclosed carriages which are brought out for an airing on special occasions. Therefore the open carriages are mainly used. Another feature that may be seen at weekends is the occasional goods train. Amongst the trucks will be noted the side-tipping skip wagons. These were made when the railway was first built and have proved their worth by being
used to move such bulky items as spoil from earthworks, ballast and concrete. As each can carry about six cubic feet of material this represents a useful amount when marshalled into one train.
A fully insulated ice cream van was constructed and painted in the manufacturer's colour scheme complete with logo. Another very necessary item is the weed killing wagon. A systemic preparation which is harmless to wild life is used here.
