A number of special events are arranged each year at Moors Valley Railway. Obviously the summer months provide the busiest time of the year but fine winter weekends also see a good turn out by the public.

The busiest and most hectic weekends of the year are in December when the Santa Special events are held. Most of the engines are in steam, the staff dress in Victorian costume and a very merry time is had by everyone including Father Christmas!

On Sundays only throughout the year a special train, the Midday limited” departs at noon precisely. This in effect means a two mile non-stop run (signals permitting) twice around the circuit, once in each direction.

The tank engine days are our way of using the smaller engines in our fleet, which run short trains but more often and the railway is usually run ‘the wrong way round’ for example we will depart from the main station out the rear. This certainly keeps the signal boxes busy!

For further information on any of the special events please call the railway on 01425 471415

or call into the Railway Shop during operating hours.
