Step aboard one of our Santa Specials and enjoy a festive train ride to Santa’s Railway Grotto to visit Father Christmas and his helpers.
A return train journey, presents for everyone and refreshments are included in the ticket price.
Santa Special dates, fares and bookings will be available later in the year. Pre-booking is essential and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

The experience
- Arrive at Moors Valley Country Park & Forest – car parking is free!
- Join the train at Lakeside Station and get into the mood with some Christmas music while having your tickets checked.
- Board your train for a festive journey to Kingsmere Station – home to Santa’s Railway Grotto!
- Wander through a Christmassy Winter Wonderland.
- Visit Father Christmas in his grotto and share your Christmas wishes.
- Collect a special present from Father Christmas. Presents for everyone – children and adults!
- Enjoy mince pies, mulled wine, tea, coffee and more, suitable for adults and children.
- Rejoin your train for a return journey to Lakeside Station.

Other useful information
- Within each time slot, several trains depart for Santa’s Grotto. Please arrive promptly for your chosen time slot.
- The whole experience can take up to 1 hour.
- Babies in arms go free but will not receive a present unless a ticket is purchased for them.
- Pushchairs can be left on the platform at Lakeside Station.
- For safety reasons, no dogs (except guide dogs or assistance dogs) are allowed on the train.
- There are plenty of photo opportunities, and a professional photographer is also available to take photos of your visit with Father Christmas. Photos can be purchased in the grotto before your return train journey.
- We also have a selection of refreshments available for those with dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten free and lactose free.
- Santa Special services feature illuminations and flashing lights at the stations and in the grotto.
- Regular train services will be running alongside Santa Special services.
Relaxed experience
We also run a relaxed environment experience for people with additional needs such as autism or other sensory issues.
Enjoy a calmer opportunity to meet Father Christmas, away from the hustle and bustle of usual opening times. There will be no flashing lights or loud music on these dates.
