Santa Specials 2024 Update

It is with great disappointment that Moors Valley Railway will be unable to run the much loved Santa Specials this year.

A much-needed, and long-awaited roof replacement across the main station, engine sheds, carriage sheds and shop, (including Santa’s grotto) along with some building restoration will begin in Autumn 2024. To minimise disruption to our business, we have agreed that our landlord, Dorset Council, can implement works over the winter months.

The tough decision to take a brief pause on the Santa Special event will help ensure the longevity of Moors Valley Railway, enabling generations to come to continue to enjoy the charm and nostalgia of our steam railway.

This decision has not been taken lightly, and we are desperately disappointed not to be able to welcome you all to Santa’s Grotto this year. The decision is however driven by the commitment of preserving the unique and special attraction of the narrow gauge steam trains, and the joy they bring over the Christmas period, and all year round.

We look forward to welcoming families back to the Santa Specials in 2025 for an even more magical experience.
